Charlie Beardow Bio

I have always enjoyed water sports, from swimming as a child to sailing and canoeing. So, when I noticed an advert on the local council web page offering scuba diving try dives from North Notts Nautilus I jumped at the chance: that was in 2012.

Since then I have progressed up the training levels from an inexperienced novice all the way to a dive leader and now a club instructor. My next goal is to become an open water instructor to help enhance my own skills, and more importantly help the club.

In 2012, I had to qualify as an open water diver as I had agreed to go on the club’s holiday to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt. That was enjoyable, going from diving in UK lakes and quarries to diving in the Blue of the Red Sea, going from seeing trout in a quarry to turtles and dolphins in the Red Sea.

Now being a member of ScubaMAD , (North Notts Nautilus new name) we enjoy many diving days, weekends away and of course club holidays abroad.

Since joining ScubaMAD, I have dived The Farne Islands diving with nosey seals, Falmouth and Newquay , Dosthill, Eight Acre and Capernwray quarries in the UK. Abroad I have dived in Cyprus and Egypt.

With other worldwide destination now on my horizon I want to dive further afield.

As a club, we have many social events each year, frombarbecues at the club or Eight Acre, to parties at our licensed clubhouse.
